Who and Why?
I am an Acupuncturist practicing Classical Chinese Medicine in Portland, OR. I’ve recently moved to Portland from Central Florida where I spent years studying this specific style of Chinese herbal medicine and Acupuncture with my mentor Dr. Hai-Sha Ni, and various other sources. I’m writing this blog to connect with my peers whom are learning and practicing along side me, so that we can grow together to help steer the healthcare in our society in a more holistic and preventitive direction. I also want to reach out to the people who are experiencing the effects of this medicine first hand that may feel a bit uninformed or overwhelmed by the “newness” of it’s concepts in their lives. But really, to anyone who is interested in exploring this aspect of life with me, I’m grateful for your curiosity. I am thrilled to read your comments and feedback and if there is a topic that you want to read about let me know and I’ll give you what I’ve got! Thanks for reading!

I am so happy you are doing this. Going through my own personal battle and being new to Chinese medicine will really help me out. Keep up the good work and I can’t wait to hear more!
I always knew you were an intelligent young lady, but your articles….WOW! I can’t wait to read more and more. As I said before, I am new to Chinese medicine and since my personal battle with cancer and going “outside the box” the more I learn and feel comfortable about my choice of treatment, the better it is for me. You are helping many people realize/see a new light. Keep up the great work!
I love your confidence and knowledge. The energy flows through you.
This is a wonderful site and I will share it with those I know will respect and learn from your knowledge. I look forward to you monthly articles and have learned so much already!!!!
Thank you….
Dear Hayley,
Do you have any information about lessening the irritating phase of female menopause? I am 47 and some symptoms that I would like to get a break from are hot flashes and insomnia.
Thank you,
Cubberly
Hi Cubberly,
Chinese Herbal Medicine can definitely help to alleviate the symptoms associated with menopause. I’ll email you and we can talk further.
One immediate suggestion I have, if you are dealing with hot flashes at night, is to try to lay on your left side when sleeping, it should dramatically lessen them. If you draw a line down the center of the body, the left side is controlled by the Heart (the fire element )and the right side is controlled by the water element. During menopause the fire element tends to become unchecked by the other elements and this leads to those symptoms of hot flashes, insomnia, night sweats etc. When you lay on the left side you are basically manually keeping the fire element under control by putting the water element on top of it- even if it is only temporary, its still a helpful tip.
Hayley,
I’ve read through most of your blogs and enjoyed them a lot. I enjoyed reading about your ‘journey’ towards acupuncture. Now I have a better sense of your wonderful gifts and can better refer you to those in need. Welcome to Portland!
